This song began as an 8 bar drum sequence with piano and bass. The song has a long opening which builds with guitar and ghostly background vocals that set the stage for the story to unfold. The main character finds himself suffering alone in the hospital with an ever worsening case of Covid-19. The ghostly vocals end up being the cries of a woman in the room next door as she fights for her life and calls for her loved ones especially someone named Gene. Our protagonist describes his conditions and pleads to the listener to please call and check up on him as he watches conditions deteriorate around him. This song is dedicated to my Uncle Charles Houston who died alone in the hospital from Covid-19. Dr. Dre type heavy beat meets Janes Addiction guitars with an early Peter Gabriel type story lyric.
